Privacy Policy
BitwiseDesigns ("we," "us") audits small-business websites and fixes what we find, for a flat price or as a monthly Care plan. This page explains what information we collect, why, and how you can control it. If anything here is unclear, email hello@bitwisedesigns.com and we'll answer directly.
Information you give us directly
When you request a free audit, we collect the website address and email you provide, and a business name if you enter one. When you buy a fix or a Care plan, our payment processor (Stripe) collects your payment details - we never see or store your full card number, only the payment status and which plan or fix you bought. If you email or reply to us directly, we keep that correspondence to respond to you and to track the status of your request.
Information we look up about local businesses
To find local businesses that might want our services, we look up publicly available information - business name, public website address, and publicly listed contact details - using Google's Places API and similar public business-directory sources. We use this to send a small number of relevant, honest outreach emails, always with a working unsubscribe link, and to run a free website audit so the email is backed by something real rather than a generic pitch.
Information we collect automatically
Our own site uses a minimal, self-hosted analytics beacon that records only an event name (like "homepage viewed" or "form submitted") and the page path. It does not set a cookie and does not read or write anything to your browser's local storage. Your IP address is used only transiently - for up to one hour - to rate-limit abuse of the beacon; it is never written to our analytics database, never stored alongside any event, and no browser/device fingerprint or other identifier is kept. We do not use Google Analytics, Meta Pixel, or any third-party advertising or tracking script on any BitwiseDesigns property. Because nothing is stored on or read from your device, no cookie-consent banner is required or shown.
How we use information
- To run your requested website audit and deliver the report by email.
- To fulfill a paid fix or Care plan you've purchased, and to keep you updated on its status.
- To process payments securely through Stripe.
- To send outreach, follow-up, and account emails relevant to our services - always with an unsubscribe option.
- To understand, in aggregate only, how visitors move through our site (see above) so we can improve it.
- To meet legal, tax, and accounting obligations.
Who we share information with
We do not sell personal information, to anyone, ever. We share information only with the service providers that help us run the business, each acting on our behalf:
- Stripe - payment processing for fixes and Care plans.
- Google - Places API lookups for publicly available business information.
- Instantly - our email-sending platform for outreach campaigns.
- Anthropic - the AI model provider we use to draft outreach and audit-report copy and to classify/draft replies to correspondence you send us.
- DigitalOcean and Cloudflare - server hosting, site hosting, and DNS for our infrastructure. Cloudflare also delivers our audit-report and account/transactional emails on our behalf.
We may also disclose information if required by law, or to protect the rights, safety, or property of BitwiseDesigns or others.
Email preferences
Every marketing or outreach email we send includes a working unsubscribe link and a physical postal address, per the CAN-SPAM Act. Unsubscribing (or replying "STOP") is honored automatically and permanently - no need to ask twice. Transactional emails tied to a service you've actively purchased (a purchase confirmation, a Care plan welcome or renewal notice) may continue even after a marketing opt-out, since they relate to a service you're actively using, not marketing.
Case studies and progress pages
If you become a paying client, your progress page stays private by default - a link only you have. With your explicit OK, we may show your project's before-and-after audit results as a public case study, since seeing real results is part of how we earn trust with new customers.
Your privacy rights
Wherever you're located - including under California's CCPA/CPRA, other US state privacy laws, or the EU's GDPR - you can ask us at any time to access, correct, or delete the personal information we hold about you, by emailing hello@bitwisedesigns.com. Since we never sell personal information, there's no "opt out of sale" to request, but we'll still honor any request we receive, regardless of whether a specific law's size or volume threshold technically applies to a business our size. We will never treat you differently for exercising any of these rights.
Children's privacy
Our services are directed at businesses, not children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13.
Data retention and security
We keep information for as long as reasonably needed to provide our services, respond to your requests, and meet legal or accounting obligations, and no longer. All data is transmitted over encrypted (HTTPS) connections and stored in a private, access-restricted database - no method of transmission or storage is ever 100% secure, but we take reasonable, proportionate steps to protect what we hold.
Where information is processed
BitwiseDesigns is based in the United States and processes information on US-based infrastructure. If you're visiting from outside the US, your information will be transferred to and processed in the US.
Changes to this policy
If we make a material change to how we handle information, we'll update the effective date at the top of this page.
